A young couple starting their family completed a new-build in the heart of Summit; they wanted the benefits of building from scratch, while favoring more classical architecture to blend into the historical neighborhood. Similarly, the clients wanted the interior design to complement the traditional architecture by incorporating timeless elegance, with a contemporary twist. The couple wanted the focal point to be a traditional staircase in the arched foyer visible through the front door. To achieve a quiet library for intimate entertaining, we procured a limestone fireplace hearth reminiscent of old English fireplace surrounds, and designed the bar with open, glass shelving to highlight their extensive barware collection. As afternoon sunlight pours through large windows, it illuminates the distinct elements of this personalized home.
