My clients’ purchased adjacent 1,500-square-foot penthouse apartments with the challenge of demolishing and combining the discrete spaces into a spacious, 3 Bed 3 Bath apartment. They wished for an open floor plan to showcase their modern art collection and to be able to accommodate 22 seated dinner parties. Walls were removed and reconfigured, dated marble floors were replaced with custom-colored, concrete flooring, and the ceiling was dropped in places to accommodate museum-quality overhead lighting. Seating for 22 was achieved by combining a dining table, built-in banquette seating round kitchen table, and large overhangs on three sides of the island.
